Ordinance Change (High Grass): At the June 10, 2019 Town Board meeting, Chapter 83.01(A) was changed to  require grass/weeds to be kept at a height of 14 inches or less. Previously, the height was 24 inches. This means when the height reaches 14 inches, a notice of violation will be mailed to the property owner.  If not mowed, the Town will mow and bill the cost of mowing plus a $50 administrative fee to the owner. A tax lien could be placed on the property if the bill is not paid. Please be a good neighbor and maintain your property.

Job Vacancy (Police Dept.): Police Officer – The Town of Cleveland, pop. 882, is seeking an individual to fill the position of full-time Police Officer.   Possession of a NC Driver’s License and certified as a law enforcement officer in NC required. 2019 Garbage/Recycling Collection Changes: The following weeks will have garbage and/or recycling picked up on Saturday instead of Friday: the week that includes New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Saturday dates are January 5, April 20, June 1, July 6, September 7, November 30 and December 28. If recycling pickup is scheduled during the above weeks, it will also be delayed until Saturday.

2019 Town Hall Closings: Town Hall will be closed for the following holidays in 2019: January 1 (New Year’s), January 21 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day), April 19 (Easter), May 27 (Memorial Day), July 4thSeptember 2 (Labor Day), November 11 (Veterans Day), November 28 & 29 (Thanksgiving), December 24, 25 & 26 (Christmas).
