Town Hall Closed To Walk-in Traffic:  In response to the Coronavirus-19 awareness threat and the State Stay At Home Order, Town Hall will be closed to walk-in traffic effective Tuesday, March 31st. The Town of Cleveland’s top priority is the health, safety and security of our community and employees. All residents are encouraged to conduct utilities payments with the Town utilizing its online feature at;  or depositing your payment in our Town Hall utilities payment drop box located outside in the Town Hall parking lot (DO NOT DEPOSIT CASH FROM 4:00 PM TO 8:30 AM); by mail or by calling the Town offices at 704 278-4777 and making your payment over the phone during normal business hours (Monday-Friday 8:30 to 12 and 1 to 4:30).  Additional fees apply to phone and on-line payments due to third party vendors providing that service. Town Park Closed: Due to the State Stay At Home Order, the Town Park will be closed during the duration of the order. We appreciate our community’s understanding in these difficult times.

HEAVY TRASH PICKUP CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Orginally scheduled for March 30th, this event has been cancelled due to the state of emergency for the COVID-19 virus and safety of Town employees.

Ordinance Change (High Grass): At the June 10, 2019 Town Board meeting, Chapter 83.01(A) was changed to  require grass/weeds to be kept at a height of 14 inches or less. Previously, the height was 24 inches. This means when the height reaches 14 inches, a notice of violation will be mailed to the property owner.  If not mowed, the Town will mow and bill the cost of mowing plus a $50 administrative fee to the owner. A tax lien could be placed on the property if the bill is not paid. Please be a good neighbor and maintain your property.

Job Vacancy (Police Dept.): Police Officer – The Town of Cleveland, pop. 882, is seeking an individual to fill the position of full-time Police Officer.   Possession of a NC Driver’s License and certified as a law enforcement officer in NC required. 2020 Garbage/Recycling Collection Changes: The following weeks will have garbage and/or recycling picked up on Saturday instead of Friday: the week that includes New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Saturday dates are January 4, April 11, May 30, July 4, September 12, November 28 and December 26. If recycling pickup is scheduled during the above weeks, it will also be delayed until Saturday.

2020 Town Hall Closings: Town Hall will be closed for the following holidays in 2020: January 1 (New Year’s), January 20 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day), April 10 (Easter), May 25 (Memorial Day), July 3 (for the 4th), September 7 (Labor Day), November 11 (Veterans Day), November 26 & 27 (Thanksgiving), December 24, 25 & 28 (Christmas).
