RECYCLING UPDATE: As of January 1, 2020, glass bottles and jars are no longer picked up with your recycling. Put all glass in your garbage can.

  • BEWARE when paying your utility bill on-line. The Town does not use nor support as a payment vendor. Several customers have tried to pay on-line using the Town’s website but was taken to DOXO instead. According to IT professionals, malware on your phone may be the culprit. DOXO is a third party vendor who mails a check, therefore, your payment is not valid until the Town receives the check. Payments made using the Town’s vendor on-line is an immediate payment that is transferred electronically with no checks involved.
  • The Rowan Public Library has started a Cleveland Outreach Program in Cleveland.  Books are available for citizens to check out and bring back when finished reading.  Please limit 3 books per person.   A sign out book is provided.  A variety of books are available including children, youth, fiction and non-fiction.   The library is located beside Town Hall in the green building and is open from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm on days when Town Hall is open. 
  • Urban Archery Deer Season – The Town is participating in the Urban Archery Deer Season. Archery hunting is allowed ONLY in the town limits of Cleveland. N.C. The season will run January 11 through February 16, 2020. Wildlife regulations require you to have written permission from property owners that must be carried with you while you are hunting. Hunting is NOT allowed on any Town-owned property. Contact the NC Division of Wildlife management ( for hunting regulations. Contact Town Hall to verify an area is located within the town limits.
  • Electronic Billing – You may sign up to receive your bills electronically. Go to Utility Services to learn how.
